Wurzburg Few people outside of Germany have heard of Wurzburg, but that's probably a good thing. I would hate to see it ruined by a bunch of unappreciating tourists. Wurzburg holds a very special place in my heart, if for no other reason than I spent 2 of the happiest years of my life there. I was stationed in Kitzingen, which is about 10 kilometers (6 miles) away, but everyone knew that Wurzburg was where everything happened. Most American military personnel only know of Wurzburg because it has the biggest PX in Europe (typical). It has so much more to offer. It has a magnificent Baroque feel to it, with an obvious Medieval influence as well. Wurzburg is one city that will stay with me forever. I could live the rest of my life there and be happy. The Marionberg Fortress: The view of Wurzburg from the Marionberg Fortress: The Castle Garden in the Marionberg Fortress: The Residenz, definitely a highlight of Europe. It used to be the home of the Prince-Bishops back in the day: At the bahnhof (train station)
