Cologne (Koln)

Cologne (Koln, in German) is the 4th largest city in Germany, but I was disappointed. I'm sure I would have enjoyed it more with a little more time to explore, but I just didn't see a whole lot there. It's just a big city with a big cathedral - one of the biggest in Europe actually, and it is quite large and impressive. Of course, this is the city where Eau de Toilette(Cologne) was invented. They made a museum out of the place now where you can learn the history of it. As you can imagine, it's not too exciting. The thing I remember most about Cologne is Kolsch. Kolsch is a relatively light and slightly bitter beer brewed solely in Cologne. It's a local speciality - you can get it all over Germany, but only those brands brewed in and around Cologne are allowed to call their brews Kolsch. It's served in tall thin glasses, and let me tell you, there's nothing better on a hot day than a cold Kolsch...
